Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip joint in its primary form, is limited to the elderly population. However, OA may also occur in middle-aged or even young adults depending on life style and level of performance in sports. The most common disorders which predispose to early onset hip joint OA, include femoroacetabular impingement, mainly CAM type, developmental dysplasia, chondrolysis from previous trauma, advanced avascular necrosis and inflammatory and septic arthritis. This webinar presents cases of the most common causes of early onset hip joint OA with emphasis on the role of MRI and the current use of MR arthrography. The role of radiologists will be highlighted towards recognizing the underlying disorder and providing the best of information based on imaging.
